Now that it’s not 90 degrees out with 100 percent humidity, it’s time to change up your wardrobe! Don’t worry, we’re not pushing turtlenecks just yet. Instead, it’s all about denim! From the runway to real life, tonight, “Denim for Days” is one of Shireen’s Favorite Things.

When it comes to fall and winter fashions, denim is making a daring statement.

Chanel mixed jeans with classic tweed for its 2017 ready-to-wear runway show. Armani hired hottie Megan Fox to jazz up its jeans. And Guess is gussing up its gals in head-to-toe denim. Giddy-up!

Shireen Sandoval: “You’re doing the skinny, but I’m wearing the wide-leg. Is wide leg still in? I hope you say yes!”

At Lilac and Lilies Boutique in Fort Lauderdale, we got tips on how denim can dazzle up your everyday wardrobe.

Michelle DiMarco: “The great thing about denim is you can wear a cropped denim jacket, especially for fall in South Florida, over sized denim jacket, a denim skirt, which is really hot right now.”

Any kind of denim will do.

Shireen Sandoval: “Does denim really ever go out of style?”

Michelle DiMarco: “It takes many forms, with the skinny leg, the cigarette leg, the wide leg, the boot cut leg, but it never really goes out of style.”

It’s not just jeans. Off-the-shoulder dresses, long shirts and chambray rompers are front and center, too.

Michelle DiMarco: “I’m really into baseball caps. I think they’re easy and fun. I’ve been living in a denim baseball cap.”

The trend is reminiscent of days gone by when suit tailor Jacob Davis joined forces with a European sales guy named Levi Strauss.

Yep, as in 501’s.

Michelle DiMarco: “This was in the late 1800s during the Gold Rush, so the miners needed a really durable heavy fabric to work in, so these two pioneers developed denim.”

For the blog, I tried three different denim looks.

This shirt is perfect for work. A fab fitting jean jacket, great for a date. And a comfy, casual romper for relaxing on the weekend.

Michelle DiMarco: “We are definitely influenced by iconic movie stars, actresses such as Madonna and James Dean, and we kind of look to see what they are wearing, and then it goes to more of a mainstream level.”

No matter how you wear it — the runway or real life — “Denim for Days” is one of my favorite things.
