(WSVN) - And you won’t find a bigger Cubs fan than Bill Murray — and what a weekend it was for him! On Saturday, his team won and is headed to the World Series, and the next night, he received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Bill Murray: “This right here (points to bow tie), this is Chicago Cub blue — this is what we’re all about. We’re here. We’re here and I’m glad they won last night, so they could be here this evening.”

Bill Murray is funny… But I think he’s only half joking with that comment. He was honored at the Kennedy Center in D.C. with one of comedy’s most prestigious awards — the Mark Twain Prize.

Bill Murray: “It’s a big deal – I’m not really processing it too well. I’m kind of dazed by it.”

Jimmy Kimmel: “We are here to honor a man who travels around the world spreading foolishness and joy wherever he goes — Mr. Bill Murray.”

The night hosted by fellow funny man Jimmy Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel: “Bill Murray is, perhaps, our greatest American. He is beloved by all, everywhere he goes.”

He really is, isn’t he? Bill Murray is nothing short of an American treasure.

Bill Hader: “I think, you know, he just made it look very simple, like you should just do things that you like. I always felt that when was in a movie it was because he liked it.”

His “Ghostbusters” co-star Sigourney Weaver says that’s what makes him so good.

Sigourney Weaver: “He really sees who you are and he used to make fun of me because I was quite serious.”

Bill Murray has more than 60 movie credits to his name, so what is Bill Murray’s favorite Bill Murray movie?

Bill Murray: “‘Groundhog Day’ I think is a really unusually great script, a great concept and an idea for a movie — but I like them all. I really do like them all.”

And while it’s a great award, Bill, in his trademark style, thinks the ceremony is a bit much.

Bill Murray: “As much as I dreaded this — I dreaded this, I really had to come back to this idea that there’s love. That’s what we came with and what we go with.”
