We know people care more about who you’re wearing than who actually wins an Emmy, but history was made Sunday night at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel: “If your show doesn’t have a dragon or a white Bronco in it, go home now.”

That sentence from Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue summed up the night perfectly.

Dennis Franz: “‘Game of Thrones.'”

Jimmy Smits: “Woo!”

With that, “Game of Thrones” made history. The show took home 3 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, bringing its Emmy total to 38, beating the previous record of 37 held by “Frasier.”

David Benioff: “We have the best cast that’s ever been assembled.”

The FX series “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” was another big winner, winning Best Limited Series and three out of four top acting honors.

Sterling K. Brown: “A lot of you didn’t know who I was, but you checked the box anyway, and that makes me very, very happy.”

The top comedy was once again….

Larry David: “‘Veep!'”

And its star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus took home her fifth consecutive Best Actress gold, and her acceptance speech made us laugh…

Julia Louis-Dreyfus: “Our show started out as a political satire, but it now feels more like a sobering documentary.”

And cry.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus: “I’d like to dedicate this to my father, William Louis-Dreyfus, who passed away on Friday.

“The Voice” won Best Reality Show a second year in a row, and Jeffrey Tambor did a two-fer for his lead role in “Transparent.”

Jeffrey Tambor: “May I be very clear about something. There is no best actor. Alright?”

“Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” surprised many, taking home Outstanding Variety Talk Series.

John Oliver: “Please play me off. I’ve never had the chance to do this before. (orchestra plays him off) Thank you.”

In doing so, he stole host Jimmy Kimmel’s thunder, and Matt Damon made sure Jimmy felt the pain.

Mat Damon: “This is so humiliating. You lost and now you gotta stand out here for the rest of the night in front of everybody.”

Jimmy made sure the audience was well fed during the three-hour show by handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made by his mom.

Jimmy Kimmel: (handing out paper bags): “There you are. There you are.”

He, of course, poked fun at the nominees throughout the night, including “Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett.

Jimmy Kimmel: “Who is to blame for Donald Trump? That guy. Mark Burnett.”
