2017 South Florida firefighters reveal 2017 calendar

HOLLYWOOD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — The 2017 South Florida firefighters revealed their 2017 calendar Thursday.

The firefighters unveiled their calendar at the Crown Plaza on Hollywood Beach, Thursday and some couldn’t wait to get their hands on it.

Retired Lt. Luis Espinosa, South Florida firefighters calendar: “This year, the cover and the calendar is just phenomenal.”

This isn’t just any old calendar — it’s their 25th anniversary.

Luis Espinosa: “We are not Magic Mike, we are professional firefighters, paramedics.”

Backstage, the firefighters got the first look at their hard work, which finally paid off in print.

Jackson Deglace, firefighter: “I changed my diet, I stopped eating carbs! Got rid of the rice, got rid of the bread.”

Try-out’s for the calendar started at the beginning of the year. Out of hundreds, 30 were picked. During the secretaries luncheon in spring, a room full of screaming women narrowed it down to the top 14.

Jason Suite, firefighter: “It’s for charity, you let go of your inhibitions. You’re doing something good, something fun. When those two things match, it’s pretty easy.”

Although firefighters aren’t taught to perform, they sure gave it all they got.

O.J. Herrera, firefighter: “You pretty much go in having an idea, but when you get there, it kind of goes out the window and you just basically go all out.”
