MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are investigating after human remains were found in Miami Gardens during an investigation into a woman’s 2010 disappearance.
Officials could be seen investigating near the 3900 block of Northwest 215th Street, where crews have been excavating the area since late Wednesday night.
According to Hallandale Beach Police, detectives were working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and looking into the disappearance of Lynda Meier when officers found what appears to be human remains in the area where Meier was last believed to have been.
Court records stated authorities were tipped off by a source who instructed them to look into a wooded area for her remains.

Meier was a Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy graduate living in Hallandale Beach.
She was last seen on surveillance video using an ATM at around 5 a.m. on June 4, 2010. There was also video of her going through an intersection.
“She never carried money,” said her mother, Phylis Meier, in an October 2013 interview, “so if she took out $320, I can be assured she took out $20 for herself and $300 for somebody else. I don’t think at this point I’d be foolish to think she’s alive.”
Meier was supposed to take her mother to the doctor later on in the day, but she never showed up.
The next day, her credit cards were used by two women at a Walmart. However, they told detectives a man named Dallas King gave them the cards.
King said a friend of Meier, named Antwon Kennedy, gave him the cards. Neither have been charged in the disappearance.
“I don’t know if I’m still able to process it at the moment, because I’ve always remained hopeful,” said Meier’s longtime friend Sharon Solano. “If it is, in fact, her that there’ll be closure for her families and friends.”
Solano, who has known Meier for 20 years, keeps a picture of her at work as a reminder of their friendship.
It is unclear if the remains belong to Meier. They have been sent to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner to be identified.
Officers continue to investigate.
